to The Science Center at the Maltby Nature Preserve located on the Cannon River in southeastern Minnesota. The Nature Preserve is a 90-acre wildlife sanctuary comprised of native prairie, woodlands, ponds, streams and one mile of Cannon River frontage. In this unique natural setting, The Science Center provides innovative, P-12 inquiry based science programs through project based field investigations, professional development and real time team teaching.


Our Vision is to place the State of Minnesota as the preeminent leader in P-12 science and math education, to reverse the growing decline of science and engineering in the United States and to enrich the lives of children.

Our Mission, within the diverse communities we serve, is to nurture curiosity, stimulate imagination and inspire the quest for knowledge through scientific inquiry.

Our Method is teaching the science of nature and teaching the nature of science.

Our Goal is to fundamentally change and improve the way we teach P-12 science in the United States.
